Beats carry durations

Every beat is authored with a target duration and a narrative function. Runtime is therefore designed rather than discovered, and a revision to one beat does not force a rewrite of the whole script.

Narration written to be read aloud

Sentence length, stress patterns and breath points are shaped for a voice performance, not for the page. Numbers, dates and proper nouns are pre-normalised so the read never stumbles.

The still renderer reads shot entries, the narration stage reads beat directions, and the conform reads the edit brief. Because all three read the same file, the finished cut matches the version you approved.
